African Union commends President Jonathan and ECOWAS for Burkina Faso's Transitional government

President Goodluck Jonathan,and ECOWAS chairman,John Mahama of Ghana have recieved commendations from the African Union,on their roles in ensuring Burkina Faso's Transitional government.

Chairperson of the African Union Commission,Dlamini Zuma who relayed the commendation in a statement contained in the commission's information and communication directorate,Addis Ababa, eulogized the commitment of president Jonathan and ECOWAS in restoring constitutional order to Burkina Faso.

Burkina Faso on Sunday November 16,appointed former foreign Minister and Ambassador, Michel Kafando,as a transitional president,ending the short military dictatorship after Blaise Comporae's resignation last month.
Zuma,who welcomed the significant progress made in Burkina Faso's establishment of a civilian-led transitional government,said its in line with the will of the people of Burkina Faso for change and consolidation of democracy.
She also welcomed the restoration of the constitution and signing of a Transitional Charter on Sunday November 16,in Quagadougou.

Zuma however,noted with satisfaction,the appointment of Michel Kafando as the transitional president.
The charter was signed by Burkinabe stakeholders,before the African Union Special Envoy for Burkina Faso,Edem Kodjo.
