The Defence Council chaired by President Jonathan, appraised the current security situation of the areas, the unabated killings and the activities of the insurgents.

Attorney General and Minister of Justice Mohammed Adoke who confirmed this to newsmen said the six months extension, which is the fourth in the extension series will be sent to the National Assembly for assent.
The present term of the rule will expire on Thursday November 20, but there are indications that the National Assembly may be relunctant in its approval considering its failure in many quarters.
