To celebrate Nigeria's 100 years of nationhood,President Goodluck Jonathan has launched the #100 commerative banknote at the presidential villa,Abuja. Vice President Namadi Sambo and the CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele were at the launch.

The Central Bank of Nigeria's Governor while briefing the Federal Executive Council on the new banknote noted that it has one of the best security features around the world,which includes security,durability,attractiveness,cultural heritage and transformation.

The new banknote will also retain portriate of Chief Obafemi Awolowo,assist the visually impaired persons in recognising the face value as well as incorporate the QRC window which encrypts significant information that highlights Nigeria's 100 year journey,thereby making it one of the best as smart-connected paper banknotes using smartphones as identity and security tool for de-encryption of information.
The banknote signifies Nigeria's historic existence as one entity as obtained in other nations like Morroco, Costa Rica and Russia.

It will be recalled that the #50 banknote was inaugurated to celebrate Nigeria's 50th Independence Anniversary.
The new banknote will begin circulation from next month alongside the old #100 banknote.
