Abia Diaspora Commission collaborates with Inspire Hope Foundation To Train Health Workers

Abia diaspora commission ably led by Dr. Mrs Ngozi Ogbonna- Erondu, the Executive Secretary/CEO organised a one day' Train The Trainer' workshop tagged 'Helping Babies Breath Well' at the women development center Umuahia for health workers from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, in collaboration with Inspire Hope Foundation I H F (USA), NOA and ASPHDA. The Clinical staff from the newly commissioned Abia state Children’s hospital ( AnnaMarie Jackson Medical center) also participated in the workshop .

 

Declaring the workshop open, Abia State Commisioner for health,Dr.Joe Osuji , represented by the ministry's Permanent Secretary , Deaconess Franca Ekwueme commended Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for providing an enabling environment for such an effective training .He commended The team of medical experts led by Dr. Chinyere Anyaogu for coming to train the health workers and enjoined the trainees to replicate the knowledge in their different health facilities to help reduce child mortality rate.       

 

 Lending her voice, The State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) Lady Ngozi Okechukwu who decried the reported level of child mortality, tasked Nigerians at home and in diaspora to continue to partner with the government to sustain it’s child mortality eradication efforts. She commended Abia Diaspora commission for partnering with Inspire Hope Foundation ( USA)in Organising such a wonderful training.      

                      

Dr Chinagozi Adindu, Executive Secretary,Abia Primary Healthcare Development Agency commended the State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu on the numerous health intervention programmes in the state, including, the recent commissioning of a well equipped children hospital in Umuahia with plans to replicate same in the other two senatorial zones in the state.

 

  Highlights of the the workshop attended by stakeholders in the health sector and other Ministries , including , Dr Ezechikamnayo, Commisioner for Information, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwakanma, Medical Director , Abia State Emergency Medical Services , A Neonatalogist from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital,Dr Ikechukwu Okonkwo, and A Consultant from FMC Asaba Delta State Prof, Angela Okolo were demonstrations on how to handle babies during and after birth to ensure they breath well,as babies who don't breath well have slim chances of survival.
